Look to see what type of essay you will be writing as it will influence your essay topic. For instance, if it is a comparative essay you’ll need to pick two things to compare, like apples and bananas, as your topic while for a research essay, it should usually be a singular topic, such as climate change.
You’ll also want to ensure that the requirements don’t make any particular topics off limits so that you don’t choose one that isn’t allowed.
Brainstorm Ideas
Once you have an idea of what the requirements are, it is time to start brainstorming. Write down topics that interest you or if nothing comes to mind, search the web to see what topics others have written on in the past. Try to brainstorm as many ideas as you can.
